This hot food takeaway would bring more traffic, road-safety risks, noise, waste and disturbance to a stretch of Uxbridge Road that residents already experience as heavily congested. Please sign to ask Hillingdon Council to refuse planning application 72098/APP/2026/2117.
We, the undersigned residents of the London Borough of Hillingdon, including residents living near and regularly using Delamere Road, Springfield Road, Hayes Bridge, Uxbridge Road and The Broadway, object to this application because:
1. More traffic on an already congested road
We already experience heavy congestion and queues along this part
of Uxbridge Road and The Broadway, especially at busy times. A
takeaway would add customer cars, collection drivers, delivery
riders, servicing vehicles and refuse collections. Vehicles waiting
to get in or out of the site could queue back around the Quality
Foods access and onto Uxbridge Road, creating a bottleneck for
general traffic and buses.
2. More pressure on a difficult junction
The access serving Quality Foods is close to the Delamere Road,
Uxbridge Road and The Broadway junction, where drivers already
struggle with turning traffic. More customers, riders and service
vehicles turning in and out would increase the risk to motorists,
cyclists, pedestrians and bus users.
3. Pedestrian safety
Shoppers, families and people walking to the bus stops use the
footways around the Quality Foods site. We are concerned about more
vehicles and delivery riders crossing pedestrian routes and
manoeuvring around people on foot.
4. Anti-social behaviour and safety
We are worried that a takeaway in a car park would attract people
and riders waiting around, engines idling, noise and anti-social
behaviour, especially if trading hours were later extended into the
evening. This would make the area feel less safe for adults, and
more so for children walking to and from school, the shops and the
bus stops.
5. Drains and our local waterways
Frying produces fats, oils, grease and food waste, which can block
drains, causing overflows and bad smells. Yeading Brook and the
Grand Union Canal run close to this site, and we do not want them
put at risk.
6. Litter, food waste and rats
Takeaway packaging and food waste would add to litter on the
footways, the service road and our residential streets, and could
attract rats and other pests.
7. Cooking smells and fumes
Frying fumes from a roof flue on a small container would drift
across the footway, the store entrance and nearby homes.
For these reasons, we ask Hillingdon Council to REFUSE planning application 72098/APP/2026/2117.
